Joanna Tomlinson

Joanna Tomlinson

Great Britain
Joanna Tomlinson has established an outstanding reputation as a conductor, singer, and vocal coach. Artistic Director of the Military Wives Choirs — a network of over 70 choirs — and conductor of the London-based Constanza Chorus. She has conducted at the BBC Proms, Royal Albert Hall, and St Peter's Basilica in Rome, and has led workshops for the Association of British Choral Directors, Glyndebourne, and the Royal Opera House. During her tenure as Artistic Director of Farnham Youth Choir, the ensemble won two gold medals at the European Choir Games 2019.

Basilio Astulez

Spain
Choir conductor and professor at the Municipal Conservatory of Leioa. Founder of the children's choir Leioa Kantika Korala (2000) and conductor of youth choir SJB with over 250 singers aged 7–25. His women's ensemble Vocalia Taldea has won more than 20 prizes in major international competitions. He has led 12 recordings, conducted international tours across Europe, Asia, and the Americas, and since 2018 serves as Professor of Choral Conducting at the Higher Conservatory of the Basque Country, Musikene.

Hull ICC 2027 offers five competitive categories: Category A — Advanced Mixed & Equal Voices; Category B — Mixed & Equal Voices; Category G — Children's and Youth Choirs; Category S — Sacred Choral Music A Cappella (Christian sacred music, entirely a cappella); Category P — Pop, Jazz & Gospel; plus three non-competitive formats: Evaluation Performance, Individual Coaching, and Friendship Concert.

Choirs registering before pay only €150 for the first activity instead of the standard €300 — a saving of 50%. Additional activities are €200 each regardless of when you register. Early Bird discounts also include a 3-5% deduction off the Event Package, depending on the chosen payment scheme.

The registration fee covers administrative processing, including handling the registration and the review of application materials by the Artistic Committee. Accommodation in various hotel categories and local services are bundled into a separate all-inclusive Event Package. Regional choirs within 200 km of Hull pay a separate Participant Fee (per person) instead of the Event Package.

Yes. Three non-competitive formats are available: Evaluation Performance — receive immediate artistic and pedagogical feedback from the international jury without being ranked; Individual Coaching — a 45-minute session with an international choral expert on one piece of your choice; Friendship Concerts — perform for Hull's audiences at various venues as part of the cultural program. Choirs may also choose to participate exclusively in Friendship Concerts (Non-competitive Festival Participation).

INTERKULTUR can issue official invitation letters and stamped participant lists once registration and down-payment are confirmed. Visa processing can take considerable time, so we strongly recommend registering early and applying for your visa as soon as your registration is complete.

The jury consists of three internationally renowned choral professionals: Darius Lim (Singapore), Founder of the Voices of Singapore and internationally acclaimed for his visionary approach to choral music; Joanna Tomlinson (Great Britain), Artistic Director of the Military Wives Choirs; and Basilio Astulez (Spain), Professor of Choral Conducting at the Higher Conservatory of the Basque Country.
